It is important to download the correct
file, otherwise the program that installs will only run in demonstration
mode and your licensee/registration details will not unlock it successfully.
You can check your current version and edition by clicking on About PIA
under the Help menu of your software (You can also use this to ensure that
you have updated successfully.) Most professionals use PIAPro while most investors use PIAFpu.
To install the update (Win 95, 98, ME, XP, 2000,
Vista, Windows 7):
- Ensure that PIA is not running so that the program file can be replaced.
- Click on the appropriate update in the table above.
- If you are asked by the browser whether to open/run the file or save it to disk,
choose open/run (this will automatically run the install once it has downloaded).
- When the update runs on your PC, it will confirm the version and edition
being updated. Click OK.
- You will then be presented with a dialog in which you will need to click the Unzip
button to extract the files. The default folder to take the
extracted files will be the same as for the original installation
CD. If you changed this on the original, you will need to
change it here to correspond.
- If all has gone according to plan, the updated program should request confirmation of the localisation defaults (country/State) the next time it is run. You can check the updated edition number under About PIA (Help menu).

- Changes to the program to make it more compatible with Macintosh computers under Codeweavers Crossover for Mac
To run PIA (or any other Windows program) on a new Macintosh, we recommend a simple inexpensive system called CrossOver by CodeWeavers which is built on a technology called WINE. It does not require a copy of Windows and our tests so far have all proven to work perfectly.
Codeweavers are offering a 20% discount to PIA owners. You can trial it before you buy it and the cost is (I think) very reasonable (< US$30).
